This is a holiday that, honestly, I'd never really even heard of until I opened the daycare several years ago and started looking into different lesson plans and activities for the kids. Grandparent's Day was declared by President Jimmy Carter in 1978 as being the first Sunday following Labor Day each year. A time to thank our parents for raising us to be responsible and thoughtful adults who, in turn have had children that we need to pass on these values to ourselves.
Happy Grandparent's Day to all of you, our grandparents, our parents, great aunts and uncles. All of you who pass on your experiences and knowledge and love to the younger generations as a learning experience.
Have a great week everyone!
And Happy Grandparent's Day to our friends and family! Here's a photo we took with the timer this week for a display in the scouts booth at the fair. Gotta love those timers!
