ANOTHER WEEKEND FULL OF ADVENTURE!

We Walked/Ran a 5K
this weekend! The Autumn Leaf Run is a 1 mile, 5 K, or 10 K route that has been put on by the local hospital for several years now. Last year Zoe and I did the 5 K with friends and this year I convinced the whole family to join in. It was a lot of fun! The event was the kick off for our final farmer's market and Harvest Days Festival. We had a group warm up session before the starting whistle blew! There were several familiar faces as we raced around town, across the bridge, and along the river to return to our starting point and pick up our "finisher" t-shirts. I was really impressed by the little kids who just kept going, and going, and going. I found myself having to sprint several times just to keep up with them.

We followed the evening with a fun, impromtu dinner with friends (Thanks Julia and Dennis) and chit chat around a warm fire! Ahhh...I love the fall time!

Friend Steve and his kids Dylan and Lyndsi joined us today for a little bike ride and geocaching that ended up turning into a hike around the Okanogan River and Columbia River confluence instead. Dylan took this picture of the four of us in our Leaf Run shirts.

It was a gorgeous spot. We found our cache without much difficulty. I hate to say I was hoping for a little more action from the wildlife in the area. I think we'll have to return in the spring when the Double Crested Cormorants are in the trees. The kids found all kinds of treasures, however, including a HUGE fish head, a bone from some critter, a dead duck, walking sticks, and some fresh water clams. Great stuff!

We drove up to this view point to find a second cache after our hike. Jeff is looking down on the area where we were exploring.

Have a great week!

We've always wanted to go to that area and just haven't found the time. Maybe I'll have to come out with you in the spring to find the critters.

Way to Go Amy -

Miles and I are runners from away back - used to do marathons, but my knees 'creak' now so I just walk. I miss the feeling after a run, there's nothing like it. What a wonderful thing to do as a family.

Gorgeous view!

PS - the sandcranes flew over here two weeks ago, and I thought of you!
