It is one of our family's favorite holidays! This year we've even got a Friday night to celebrate, which is rare and appreciated! We've been going through the boxes of costumes and playing around a bit. Here's Max with his Jester Dog Lily. Anya is sporting her usual Halloween scarf and has been working on this gigantic leg bone that Jeff got her all week long.
This Weekend's Adventure
We went on a hike/bike ride up by Rock Creek yesterday. Jeff had told us all about the abandoned silver mining operation up there. The three tiered rock wall (known in the area as the China Wall) was never finished. It was intended to house several buildings and a silver mining operation but was never finished because of the unexpected crash of the silver industry before the turn of the century. You can learn more about the history of the Arlington Mine HERE. I'd like to go back and see if we can find any of the remnants of either of the mining towns that boomed in the area at the time; Ruby or Loop Loop, but I've heard that not much remains. According to the website, Loop Loop (which our ski hill was named after) was quite a town, housing eighteen businesses and several streets. I didn't even know it ever existed.
About a year ago, Jeff started his own geocache up inside one of the abandoned mines. As the main purpose for our trek yesterday, we checked up on the cache to make sure it was still safe and sound. It was in tact, full of goodies, and has had several visitors over the past year.
I'll be having a little sale beginning this Thursday to celebrate Digital Scrapbooking Day! Don't miss out on the opportunity to stock up goodies from all over the digi community! Everyone will be celebrating! Until then...have a great week!

Let us know when you go back up exploring. We had a blast up at China Wall last year and I got some portraits of my friends. It is quite a fun place to explore.
