SEARCHING FOR THE GREAT PUMPKIN...

...and I think we found it.
Three of them actually, plus a bunch of squash that should last us through the next couple months. We took a weekend trip to hook up with friends and spend the day at Green Bluff in Spokane. We've done this traditional trip to the various farms on Green Bluff several times, however, it had been a few years. I can't believe how commercial it all is; corn mazes, tractor rides, pumpkin patches (along with concessions selling everything you can imagine, even kettle corn). The corn maze at Siemers Farm is always a big attraction. Here's a couple shots of Max trying to make his way to the castle in the middle of the maze, and one of Jeff with our friend Bruce who we hadn't seen in years (it was great to see you again Bruce!)

The pumpkin patch was a lot of fun. Max and Jeff each picked out a cool white gourd quite quickly. Zoe took a little bit longer to find the perfect pumpkin. Max had a blast running around the rows of harvested pumpkins while we waited for her to make her choice. We lined up all the kiddos for a group shot too!

After Siemers, we hit a new farm belonging to the Knapps. They had quite an attraction with their "Punkin' Chunkin'" which was an enormous air gun that shoots out a pumpkin every twenty minutes or so. It was neat to watch the pumpkins fly way across the sky and disappear into a neighboring field. Check out this Youtube video if you would like to see more about this crazy hobby/sport.

A NEW INTEREST...
...in our house. When we stayed with our friends Baran and April this weekend we were reminded of how nice it is to have a sweet singing little birdie in the house. All I had to do was make the suggestion to visit our favorite pet store in Spokane before heading home and we left with a cute little green budgie and all the supplies. We had a little white budgie named Roni for seven years when we were first married, and he was so much fun! After having a horrible experience with another bird a couple years ago (she was very sick), we are hoping to have another great "Roni" experience with this one. I'll get some photos soon.

Oh how I miss Spokane! I knew instantly where you were when I saw the castle sticking up over the corn. We were stationed at Fairchild AFB a few years ago and it was by far one of my most favorite places to live! I have very fond memories of Green Bluff! Love your pictures, thanks for the trip down memory lane.
