BUSY DAY!

Yard Cleanup
With Jeff gone and the rain finally stopping for a brief moment (it's coming again tonight, I can see it in the distance!) we decided to get the yard cleaned up and surprise him. Got some grass replanted, some weeds pulled and moved the birdbath, which was quite a chore. It took both Zoe and I and a wheelbarrow to move it from one side of the yard to the other. It was getting buried in overgrown mulberry bush where it was and we just weren't able to enjoy it. Now it's sporting fresh water and colored glass pebbles inside and has lots of newly planted summer bulbs and tubers all around it that will hopefully start popping out any day now. We have several robins and finches nesting in the Spruce nearby so now they'll have a cool drink.

Duck Update
Three nights outside alone, and so far so good. It actually got warm enough today that we let them get out for a swim in their big galvinized tub. They are so cute to watch dive under the water and then come up to shake off! Anya kept a close eye on Henry the cat. Henry didn't even know they existed until we stuck them outside full time a few days ago, and now we have to escort him outside each time so he doesn't get them through the chicken wire. We have large borrowed dog kennel on it's way soon so that we can enclose the small cage and put their swim bucket in with them. It will be nice not to have to babysit the cat and dog anymore.

Off to Make Dinner
Not too exciting today, sorry. Jeff just got home and is hungry for dinner. We're having this awesome beef that I cooked up a couple nights ago using this fabulous sauce that a friend pointed out to us from Safeway. It's called Wild Wife Chili Colorado sauce (here's a link to their site), and I cooked a roast in the crockpot smothered with the sauce until it was so soft a fork pulls it apart. So good on tortillas with fresh salsa and guacamole, YUMMM! This will be my fourth meal of it and my mouth is still watering for it.

I did start a "book of ideas" last night for some scrap designs, and I am excited to sit down to the computer interrupted for the first time in days now that Jeff is home to entertain. I should have something to show tomorrow. Have a great Sunday everyone!
