Rain...Rain...Go Away...
O.K., It will be months after daycare is over and I'll still be singing everything I am thinking outloud, I'm sure. It has been raining every single day since the middle of the night last Friday! Sure, the grass is greener than ever, but I live on this side of the state for a reason (not the raining side!!!) Lake Cheeseman is a HUGE puddle that we have battled with ever since buying this house 7 and a half years ago. There should have been a disclaimer on the house papers "occasional lakeside view, vacation property potential!" Two years ago we finally footed the bill to haul in a truckload of gravel to dump along the front so the daycare parents could at least have a place to park and get out without wearing galoshes! It didn't work completely, however, now we just have a nice little island in the middle of the lake. I was thinking the ducks would love to go for a swim out there, but the crazy teens that drive by like to see if they can hydro plane right along our fence so that probably wouldn't be wise.
Project: Butterflies
So the kids and I have been raising Painted Lady Butterflies for the last three weeks. I took this photo today of two at the top of the hanging basket we keep them in. We're suppose to be releasing them today, but as the kids informed me yesterday two of them were "giving piggie back rides, just like the Sea-Monkeys do, Amy!!" So I think we'll hold onto them for a couple more days in hopes for new eggs. We did this a few years ago and ended up with about 50 butterflies to let go. Now tell me, doesn't that sound like an AWESOME page to SCRAP!!!! I'll keep you informed.
Talking about Scrapping....
I did get one page done last night after the kids went to bed. Actually it was one I started about a month ago, just hadn't finished yet and after acquiring some new supplies last week I had all the touches I needed. As far as designing goes, I've just started dog-earing ideas in magazines and jotting down ideas. I know I can do this given time! I did create the lovely vellum flower petals for this page while working on it last night. Not much, but it's a start. Take care!
Font is TKDoodle (my new fav.) by Taran Conyers, Carrie Stevens background paper, journaling block (color change, gradient added), aqua brad, Meredith Fenwick Frame it Borders, Dawn Stocstill doodle, Gina Miller notebook paper, pretty petals and black brad, Lie Fhung stitches (these are so fun!), Jen Wilson ribbons (color changed slightly to match) and beads, Ali Folendore Bling Bling studs, Amy Cheeseman pink vellum flower petals

Congrats on the blog! It is looking great. (Don't check out mine - it is sadly way behind)
I'm loving your baby ducks. What a biological phenomonon to experience!! I'd put a link, but not sure how, but the whole thing is called imprinting.
"This early social behavior among precocial birds has been termed imprinting and has been defined as a process that causes the newly hatched to become rapidly and strongly attached to social objects such as parents or parental surrogates."
There was a movie made a few years ago ("Fly Away Home")about a man who had to teach his little geese how to fly - he used an ultralight gyrocopter - because they didn't have a parents to teach them.
Good luck with the babies - both ducks and butterflies too.
And good luck with the blog.
Your blog looks great! I'm just starting to set one up and you are right about it being a foreign language! Your little ducks are so sweet and I love the follow the leader picture.
This is really neat, Amy! I'm looking forward to reading future "ramblings" and watching the ducklings grow.
