FIRST DAY OF A NEW YEAR!!!

First Day of School
The kids, Jeff and I all experienced the first day of school together today! It was a new cup of tea for me, but I had lots of fun and I'm darn right beat!!!! Ready for bed, but have too much to do before then, so I might as well update the blog and post a couple pictures of the kids this morning. Zoe is in 6th grade at the middle school now so we took her there first. Next I took Max to his 1st grade class and stayed to help out for the first hour or so. Next I went to the highschool to start working on my part time, Senior Culminating Project Coordinator position. I was shocked how stage frightened I was when I first walked into a senior class to be introduced to them. My voice was so shaky I felt like I was giving an oral presentation in a class of 100 in college all over again! Those big kid faces staring at me like, "Who the heck are you...". It's no preschool class folks! These kids had mohawks and makeup! I stayed for four periods to get my files in order and things got easier with each class. And to think I may have to substitute for any of these kids as soon as a phone call comes!!! YIKES! I can do it though, I know I can, I just need to get more used to it, which means lots of volunteer time at the schools over the next few days!

So here are my darling sweet children, matching backpacks and new lunchboxes in hand! They both had terrific days! Max came home raving about how nice his 27 year old teacher is (UUUGH, makes me feel old) and how cool Math was, and Zoe is convinced she wants to play the trumpet in band this year (and continue guitar lessons) and says she is going to be her friend Donna's Campaign Manager for the 6th grade council position (she'll be great at it). Hope you all find the start to a new year as exciting as we do!
