Warning, If you don't care about the busy day... you better just scroll down a long ways! I'm waiting on my new products to upload to get into the store tomorrow so it will take awhile and I feel the need to ramble on while I wait.
PS, Freebie Sampler still available down below, but only for a couple more days! Grab it while you can!
What a Busy Day!!!
I'm still subbing this sub spot at the elementary school, which is a fulltime spot that is up for hire. I applied for it, and even though I'm thinking I don't have a chance I sure hope I get it! I feel like the job is mine already because I've been doing it for three weeks, gotten to know the kids, teachers and aides really well, and feel like I'm doing a great job. The way it works, however, in the school system, isn't that simple. You see people get laid off every spring when cuts are made and then when the school district realizes they can't live without those positions they hire people back. So someone is just sitting there waiting to be hired back this year, and in the mean time I've been doing their job for three weeks and loving every minute! UUUGH, the life of a sub.... We'll see how it turns out soon.
Anyway, on to the busy day... First we get up (all of us between 6 and 6:40), showers, breakfast, hair, faces, teeth, yadda yadda yadda. Didn't have to make the kids' lunches today because Wednesday is pizza day for hot lunch and they love it so they eat it!!! TG!!! (That's thank goodness, or thank god for all you non abbreviators). So Zoe keeps loosing her "lava lamp glitter night light" because she can't seem to remember to turn it off in the morning. She knew when she woke up in the dark this morning that she was going to get another chance with it so she went to grab it from it's "time out spot" (10 seconds before we leave to catch the bus) and promptly drops it on the floor, shattering it all over the place (boy, light bulbs contain a lot of glass for being so small and delicate). So after the kids left for school I spent the half an hour before I head out cleaning up glass instead of eating breakfast or anything silly like that.
So off to work for the day... School ends at 3 p.m. and I'm off to the high school for more work with the Seniors (another part time job I'm doing), then it's to the store because our poor little fridge is the emptiest I've seen it in a long, long time. Probably emptier than it was when we left for vacation this summer. Without the daycare anymore and all four of us gone during the day my cooking has greatly diminished, although I do manage to feed us, it's just only one meal a day really. The kids fend for themselves in the morning and Jeff and I take leftovers for lunch. Now I just need to get the kids to make their own sack lunches. Share your ideas people...Janice??? I know you're reading this. How do I get this to happen in the rush of the morning, tell me please??
I come home from the store (it's almost 5 now), declutter the house...vacuum...mop...clean the bathroom...wash hands (don't want to gross anyone out!)...make dinner, and we're all set and ready for Max's first official "Tiger Cub Scout" meeting here at our house at 6 p.m. No one really wanted the responsibility of being full time leader for our 5 boys (can you blame us? We're all so crazy busy all year!) so we're taking turns hosting each Wed. for a month at a time. It was so much fun!!! The boys had a blast. Jeff took his leadership role pretty seriously. He's been researching the rules and had examples to show, stories to tell, and fun activities for them to do. He was a scout himself (with his wonderful mother, Audrey as den leader) so he's got a lot to live up to! And Jill, (I know you're reading this) Steve's turn is next month I hear. And thank you for the American Flag loan. It made doing the "pledge of allegiance" very official! And me, I'm just taking lots and lots of pictures and will most likely end up putting them into a little scrapbook for the boys at the end of the year.
All that said, after the days' events, getting the kids calmed down and in bed and Jeff tucked in (he kindof just rolled into bed and fell directly asleep after reading a couple pages of his novel) I decided to get some scrap work done, because frankly, this is the only time I have to do it~! And I desperately need my little time each day.
OK, On to Scrap Stuff
I WENT SHOPPING LAST NIGHT!!! Yippe! I spent about $5 at Jen Wilson's half price sale and ended up with four gorgeous products! And then I promptly created this layout in about 30 minutes flat! I keep telling all my non-digiscrappin' friends that it is sooo much faster doing it digitally and here is my proof. The secret, I think, is to using gorgeous products like these that make simple layouts look complicated and time consuming FAST! Thank you Jen, for your beautiful products and the sale that got me there!
Everything is from Jen Wilson's "Suddenly Studious" and "Meaning Two", date stamp from the Awesomely talented Trish Jones (from Trish Jones Designs, shameless plug) and font is Ring Bearer
Layout of Zoe on her first day of school. She DOES NOT look old enough to be in Middle School now does she folks??? Nor am I old enough to have a child in middle school, right??? Correct me if I'm wrong please!!!
OK, and it looks like the stuff is uploaded and it's time for me to join DH (dear husband for all you non-abbreviators) for a good night's sleep. So here's the four new paper products up in the store as soon as the crew gets to it (Thanks Kimberly, you are so appreciated). You can find these four paper packs at my store (maybe by the time you read this, if not check back very soon) at Digiscrapshak, RIGHT HERE. Each pack contains 10 12x12 cardstock-like textured papers in gradient hues. Plus I threw in a matching ribbon per set and a coordinating brad from my "brad pack". If you are wanting all four, keep your eyes peeled because I'll have a discounted set of all four up very, very soon.

Hey Amy! I just wanted to tell ya that my oldest just started Tiger Cubs too and we love it! I think this will be so good for him and the whole family. They even allow my lil guy who is only 4 now attend with us. DH was a scout too, made it one badge shy of Eagle Scout (don't ask me why he quit that close!) So he plans to get involved. Have you started selling popcorn yet?
