Mother's Day Tiles

I promised a few people I'd share this project for making tiles as gifts using scrap supplies, but couldn't really post about it until after Mother's Day and after Jeff's and my Mom got them in the mail (yep, they read the blog, HI MOMS!!!!!)

So here's a photo. I got this idea from a poster at SBB about two and a half years ago and we made 6x6 tiles with wall hangers in my daycare for Xmas gifts. These new ones I made for Mother's Day are 4x4 and could also be made into coasters if a felt backing was added. And I found these adorable little wooden plate stands that worked perfect for display.

I used a simple 60 cent ceramic tile (this one is in blue) from the tile department at Home Depot!

So here's what you do....

1. Make you layout and save it as a JPEG at desired size.
2. Print it on heavy weight matte photo paper (I used Kodak), and cut out.
3. Use "decopauge", or if you are out, like I was, a thin mixture of white glue and water, and first rub the underside of the paper. Next, position it on the tile and press firmly and outward to remove bubbles. Then brush the mixture over the entire top.
4. Let dry for several hours and then spray with acrylic sealer

Easy Peasy

My Mom is requesting one of her other two grandchildren next.
