Behind Spring, Fall is my favorite. In fact if it was not for the following summer vacation I believe Fall would have Spring beat, in my opinion. I love the turning of the seasons, the cooler evenings, the harvest, the sunflowers, the end to yard work (LOL), the beginning of a new school year...it's all good! Fair time is so much fun also. Jeff, Max, and I had a great time at the county fair today. We're not sure how Zoe liked it yet, as she left us and ran off with friends and our cell phone this afternoon. Uuugh, I have a teenager. We thought we'd let her hang out with her girlfriends for a few hours before making her come home.
This year the kids each chose two items to enter in the fair. Zoe entered a wonderful photo she took of a white winged dove in AZ this spring, and a beautiful dark sunflower she planted and cared for in the yard. Max entered his hand crafted wood and leather boat he made at scout camp and a prize winning zuchinni. The kids recieved blue ribbons for all four of their entries!
I don't know what it is about us and zuchinnis. Last year Zoe's zuke earned a Reserve GRAND CHAMPION ribbon! And guess what? This year, Max got the same award! We're not really sure where the plant came from, but after comparing photos, I'm thinking it is a volunteer from Zoe's plant last year. It's somewhat original because it has stripes unlike many others. Max has been nurturing it for weeks and even cut it from the plant with his own pocket knife. He was so tickled.
We took Max on the ferris wheel, and then he wanted to ride the roller coaster and the big pink slide (which he promptly told us afterwards, "wasn't worth it").
I found a new visitor in the yard today...
