IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

Decorations are UP!!!

We did our tree over the weekend. Every year it gets fuller and fuller. It's funny to look back at our past trees and then look at it today and see how it has changed. I remember the year when it was just Jeff and I and I bought all silver and gold coordinating ornaments. It was a lovely tree, so sparkly and elegant. Many were broken over the first few years together. Then I remember the year when Zoe was very young. We had just moved here and Jeff had just started his job. I wasn't working. We didn't have a lot of money, but I had plenty of time. That year our tree was adorned by all kinds of homemade and homepainted ornaments and simple bows that were later given away as gifts. By the time Christmas got here that year our tree was pretty bare, LOL!!! But now we have two active and creative children. Our tree still holds some glitter and glitz, especially when it comes time for mommy to pick a new ornament (we each add one new store bought ornament each year), but the tree is mostly a history of the past 11 years of parenting. We have past daycare ornaments, school made treats, photos of the children throughout the years, first year ornaments from the grandparents. It's a reflection of us, really. I love to just sit and gaze into our tree, especially in the evening after a long, busy day, and just take it all in.

What a beautiful tree! I love the darker colored paint on your walls! I wish I had the nerve to paint my house like that.

Love your tree Amy. It looks beautiful. I am aiming at a collection of decorations like that too. I have only just started buying something new each year. Soon enough, there shall be homemade decorations.
