FROLIC, SOCCER, and the first RIVER TRIP of the year!

THE SPRING FROLIC....
...is like the "High School Prom to the 8th grader," or so I have been told over and over again. When Zoe asked if all her friends could come over after school to begin getting ready for the dance, I had no idea! I had an appointment and errands to run. By the time I showed up at 5, with three pizzas in hand there were 8 girls prepping in my home (shaving legs in the kitchen, every outlet in the house plugged in with some sort of appliance, makeup everywhere). They left in two groups of four. Here's Zoe's group, goofy shots and all!

TOURNEY
All day Saturday we spent up in Tonasket at the end of the season soccer tournament. It was heated and crazy, as usual (and the weather started cold but ended balmy, as usual). Max's team did quite well, ending with a 2nd place in his bracketed tournament. The best part was watching him play his friends Dylan and Laila, and how they high fived each other on the field when they scored against each other. Now that is sportsmanship (and friendship).

Sunday Morning...
we got up bright and early to meet a group of sixth graders, teachers, high school camp helpers, and other adults to head out on the Columbia with our school's big canoes! What a great time! Gilmore made the coolest wooden rudders this winter, and purchased sails for the boats this year. We were cruising (top speed at 6 miles per hour)! The kids (and adults) had a great time exploring the erosion edged valley that we stopped at for lunch, and I even explored the wildlife a bit.
